Okay, so here's the deal: As I note elsewhere on this profile, I love to travel. In the past year I've spent a lot of time on the road both for pleasure and for work. I've been to places as diverse as Atlanta and Inuvik in the past year. Of course, during these travels I've experienced a lot of great things. But there was one moment I had in Atlanta Georgia, that ranks very high amongst them, and I think if you can appreciate the moment, then you and I might be compatiable. So I am going to describe it.
After visting the Martin Luther King Memorial site, I walked a few blocks to where the house he was born in is located. Walking around the back (looking for a good photo opportunity :-) ) I ran into a middle aged african american gentleman and we stuck up a conversation. We ended up talking for an hour: As the shadows of the late afternoon sun began to creep along the wall of the house and up the driveway we were standing on, we quitely discussed things from family, to world geopolitics, to healthcare. Two individuals as different as different can be; him, a working class afro-american family man from the deep south; me ,a white collar, caucasian with no family from Canada's far north. Defintely not two peas in a pod, and yet we shared a moment. One of 'those' moments.
