My friends always tell me that I'm a wonderful person and that I deserve all the happiness in the world. Of course, happiness begins with yourself. So this year, I promised myself that I would make whatever changes were necessary to embrace that happiness. I'll begin by saying YES to more positive things (and trying some new things at least once) and trying not to say NO when something challenging comes along. I won't be bullied or pushed around, or generally put up with people's crap. But I also won't let it bother me. I'll remember that my life is pretty great already, so why let someone try to drag me down? Life is short and not worth dwelling on the negative.
But I'm missing that special person who reinforces the smile I wake up with everyday. The person I race home to see every night, who is just as happy to see me walk through the door as the dogs are. The man I'm willing to try new things for, whether it's sports, travel, food, or some other crazy adventure. I'm an accountant, so I usually over analyze everything - sometimes I need to be pushed outside of my comfort level, but if we're doing it together and smiling about it, it can't possibly be bad, right??
Ultimately, my end goal is to find the man who dances with me like every older couple you see gracing the dance floors at all those group functions. You know the ones I'm talking about - a slow song comes on, he asks her to dance, and they glide across the dance floor like they were born to be in each other's arms. Right now, I'm working hard to get back into a healthy lifestyle and lose a lot of weight that I put on during my last (very long and unhealthy) relationship.
