I'm presently serving on the Executive as President of The 30 Plus Singles Club Inc. in St. John's, and I just became a member of the Mount Pearl Lions' Club. Out of all the volunteer work IРІР‚в„ўve done, being a Big Sister had to be the most rewarding. At the end of the day, when you get a smile and a big hug and knowing that you made someoneРІР‚в„ўs day even a little brighter, thatРІР‚в„ўs a feeling that cannot be matched by any paycheque.

About me...
I am a very happy and content person... I have been very fortunate in friendships and have a wonderful family that I adore.
I have a quirky and sometimes dark sense of humor (a hazard of my job). Watch "Shaun of the Dead", "Hot Fuzz", "Scrubs" and or "Big Bang Theory".
Oddly, I have absolutely no sense of sarcasm... Much to the amusement of my family (who bring sarcasm to a high art), my friends and co-workers... And, my own amusement when I finally 'get it', lol ;-)
I enjoy quiet social time with good friends but not into clubs or big parties. Truth be told, a few hours out on my bike and I am as happy as a leprechaun on a pot of gold (I was looking for a good simile, but right now that's the best I got... I may edit later...feel free to suggest an alternate simile). A good BBQ and a few cold ones is an awesome evening... An occasional evening of live entertainment is also very do-able.
Matinee movies are a secret vice...
I have worn a lot if hats over the years... Spent a few years as a biker bum working in motorcycle shops; taught, as a volunteer, people to ride motorcycles, for about 10 years... Was a graphic artist for a while... Spent more time than I care to remember as a student in MUN... Pursuing classical studies, history, education, computer studies (which got me tossed out for a bit)... Finally settled down and got a degree in geography (and I still want to chase tornados)... Only to start volunteering with the ski patrol and got interested in emergency care. Got another degree and currently work at a job that provides endless (forgive me) entertainment, learning opportunities and interesting happenings... It is never be same day twice, a constant challenge!
I have been very active in the past.. l loved running, did triathlons, mountain biking, hiking, swimming, rowing, dabbled in scuba diving & horse back riding... Alas 35 odd years riding motorcycles and some 13 years downhill skiing and I have collected a few 'owie's' that set me back on some activities... Good thing you can sit me in front of a camp fire and give me a stick and I am pretty content ;-)
So... What am I doing here?
Sometimes one finds oneself needing someone else to share those moments that take your breath away... wanting someone there that you can share a glance, a quirk of eyebrow or lips that speaks volumes... To want to be so comfortable in the presence of another that you can be alone but not be alone?
